Why the under-eye

The area under the eyes is one of the first to hollow with age; the hollow makes dark circles and under-eye fat stand out, so the whole face looks tired. Filling it to the right degree gives a brighter, livelier look.

Product choice

Skin under the eyes is thin, so only the softest fillers are used — Belotero, Juvederm or Restylane for the under-eye. Aegyo-sal (the small roll under the lower lash line) can be done with domestic or imported filler.

Safety

Two safety rules apply to fillers here. A blunt-tipped cannula is used rather than a sharp needle in areas where vessels are at risk — it takes more technique, but the clinic does not trade safety for convenience (lips and chin, where the risk of vessel blockage is lower, are done with a needle). During injection the doctor repeatedly checks for any sign of vessel injury, and the day after treatment the clinic calls to check on your progress. All medical staff train regularly for emergencies so that a problem can be acted on immediately.
